About the role
- The National Technology Manager (Enterprise Resource Planning & Store Systems) is responsible for maximising the business value derived from all ERP, store operations and retail technology platforms across the OK Franchise network.
- The role serves as the critical link between Technology, Operations, Commercial, D-Commerce, Franchisees and Support Teams. The role ensures that approved systems are not only implemented successfully, but are consistently adopted, utilised and optimised to deliver measurable operational, commercial and customer outcomes.
- The incumbent is accountable for driving platform adoption, process compliance, data integrity, user capability, continuous improvement and lead high performing teams while ensuring alignment with enterprise technology standards and strategic business priorities.
What you'll do
ERP & Store Systems Value Realisation
- Strategically identify and drive maximum utilisation of ERP and store systems capabilities.
- Measure and report on technology adoption, usage and business outcomes.
- Identify under-utilised functionality and opportunities to unlock additional value.
- Develop improvement plans to increase ROI from technology investments.
- Ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable operational and commercial benefits.
Store Systems Implementation & Rollout
- Lead implementation and deployment of ERP and store systems across the franchise network.
- Coordinate store readiness activities for new technology deployments.
- Support operational teams during implementation and stabilisation periods.
- Develop implementation methodologies and standards.
- Ensure successful transition from project delivery to operational ownership.
Business Process & System Optimisation
- Analyse end-to-end store, commercial and support processes.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and standardise processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using system capabilities.
- Recommend configuration enhancements and system improvements.
- Reduce manual workarounds and improve process efficiency.
User Adoption, Training & Capability Development
- Develop and execute adoption strategies for all major technology initiatives.
- Lead the Home office Tech team and ensure efficient management of capabilities.
- Monitor training effectiveness and competency levels.
- Drive store-level and support-office capability building.
- Establish technology champions across Divisions – South Africa, Namibia and Eswatini.
- Ensure sustained adoption after implementation.
- Strategise and identify key capabilities required for future projects and sustainability.
Data Integrity & Operational Compliance
- Lead compliance with system processes and operating standards.
- Monitor store-level adherence to technology requirements.
- Ensure high standards of master data management and data governance.
- Identify and address non-compliance risks.
- Establish corrective action plans where required.
Technology Governance & Roadmap Alignment
- Ensure all initiatives align with approved enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps.
- Lead governance and prioritisation forums.
- Represent Franchise business requirements in planning processes and consistently drive key business priorities.
- Support technology investment decisions through business case evaluation.
Demand Management & Business Requirements
- Consolidate technology demand from Operations, Commercial and Franchise stakeholders.
- Translate requirements into structured business cases.
- Prioritise initiatives according to value, risk and strategic alignment.
- Ensure business requirements are clearly documented and understood.
Testing, Readiness & Business Acceptance
- Govern User Acceptance Testing activities.
- Ensure operational readiness before deployment.
- Define success criteria for system releases.
- Provide formal business acceptance and sign-off.
- Coordinate post-implementation reviews and lessons learned.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage strategic relationships with Shoprite Technology, technology vendors and implementation partners.
- Monitor service delivery and value outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance and Technology teams.
- Balance business needs with enterprise technology standards.
Technology Support & Incident Management
- Act as business escalation point for critical ERP and store systems incidents.
- Support prioritisation of issues impacting store operations.
- Ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed.
- Monitor recurring issues and drive permanent solutions.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Commerce, Business Management or related discipline.
- 8-10 years' experience in ERP, retail systems, business technology or technology-enabled operations. Franchise experience is advantageous.
