Job Description

  • Our client is seeking a hands-on, qualified Millwright to support maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of their manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be technically strong, self-motivated, and able to work effectively under pressure in a production environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on plant equipment and infrastructure
  • Inspect and clean electrical panels and conduct thermal checks on panels and machinery
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing lines, program PLCs, and calibrate sensors
  • Perform basic mechanical repairs and identify equipment requiring replacement or upgrades
  • Manage the spare parts room and maintain accurate stock levels
  • Drive process improvements to reduce waste, improve productivity, and optimise electrical usage
  • Maintain downtime, maintenance, and equipment records and support upgrade projects
  • Issue Certificates of Compliance following electrical installations and repairs
  • Train, supervise and mentor employees while coordinating with other departments and management
  • Monitor performance, quality, safety and compliance with relevant legislation and company procedures
  • Assist with budgets, forecasts, CAPEX and resource allocation
  • Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety, lockout/tagout and occupational health and safety requirements

Requirements:

  • Qualified Electrician with a recognised trade-test certificate
  • Matric or equivalent qualification
  • Relevant N3, N4 or higher electrical qualification advantageous
  • Thorough knowledge of SANS 10142 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as applicable to electrical work
  • Experience with PLCs, sensors, electrical systems and industrial maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals and technical instructions
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and logical thinking skills
  • Good leadership, communication and team coordination skills
  • Ability to manage tasks, budgets and reports effectively
  • Self-motivated, practical and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure, particularly during production breakdowns
