Mechanical Design Engineer

SUMMARY:
A well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Pretoria- North, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its their team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering foundation, proven experience in mechanical design, and proficiency in SolidWorks. Experience working with precision-machined components, manufacturing processes, or mining and drilling equipment will be highly advantageous.

This role is suited to a technically minded individual who can translate engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable designs while ensuring accuracy, quality, and functionality.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised mechanical engineering qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical design engineering.
• Proven proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawings.
• Experience with mechanical component design and detailed technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering requirements.
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Develop and modify 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks. Produce detailed 2D engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation. Design mechanical components and assemblies in line with technical specifications. Ensure designs are practical, accurate, and suitable for manufacturing and machining. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve design and manufacturing challenges. Review existing designs and implement improvements where necessary. Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, tolerances, and quality requirements. Assist with technical problem-solving and product development activities. Advantageous Experience Experience within precision engineering, CNC machining, or manufacturing environments. Exposure to mining, drilling, or heavy-duty mechanical equipment. Knowledge of machining processes, material selection, and component tolerances. Experience designing mechanical assemblies and components for industrial applications.
