POSITION INFO:
Job Description: Produce detailed manufacturing drawings, plant layouts, and 3D models for engineering projects Develop practical and cost-effective designs with a focus on manufacturability and waste reduction Generate fabrication, assembly, and production drawings to support manufacturing activities Work closely with engineers, welders, and assembly teams to ensure designs are feasible and fit for purpose Perform calculations required for design development and drawing preparation Maintain drawing registers, revisions, and documentation control systems Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and material lists Conduct site surveys and take measurements where required Prepare as-built drawings and manufacturing documentation Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution Assist with project planning, timelines, and technical coordination activities Perform visual and dimensional checks to confirm compliance with project specifications Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality and documentation standards Skills & Experience: Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks Experience producing manufacturing and fabrication drawings Understanding of mechanical design principles, material properties, and fabrication techniques Experience creating Bills of Materials and technical documentation Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team Bilingual in English and Afrikaans will be advantageous Experience within a manufacturing environment will be advantageous Valid driver's licence required Qualification: BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
