The Department of Institutional Quality Assurance in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor invites suitably qualified and visionary candidates to apply for the position of Manager: Programme Accreditation, Institutional Audits and Quality Enhancement. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead the University’s external quality assurance agenda as the institution builds an enhancement-led, risk-based and internationally benchmarked Internal Quality Management System. The Department plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the credibility of the University’s qualifications by ensuring that every programme is validly registered and accredited, and that the University remains audit-ready for the NCHE, the NQA, and professional and international accreditation bodies. In this position, you will turn accreditation, audit and programme review findings into measurable improvements, and help position the University among leading universities in the region and beyond.
Key Performance Areas
Managing the internal quality assurance gateway for new and revised programmes, and coordinating NQA registration, NCHE accreditation and professional and international accreditation submissions, while maintaining the institutional accreditation register and renewal calendar. Maintaining continuous institutional audit readiness and coordinating the institutional Self-Evaluation Report, evidence portfolios, site visits and responses to audit reports. Planning and managing cyclical programme reviews with external and student peer reviewers, and quality-assuring review reports for Senate committees. Monitoring accreditation conditions, audit recommendations and improvement plans through to closure. Leading institution-wide thematic enhancement projects, benchmarking and a good-practice repository in collaboration with academic and support units. Leading, developing and performance-managing the Section’s staff, managing its budget and resources, reporting to the Director and governance structures, and performing any other reasonable duties assigned by superiors in support of departmental and institutional objectives.
A relevant Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Quality Assurance, Quality Management, Higher Education, Education, Educational Management with at least eight (8) years’ relevant experience, of which five (5) years should be at a supervisory level, preferably within higher education, is required. Candidates must demonstrate sound experience in programme accreditation, institutional audits, cyclical programme reviews and self-evaluation, and expert knowledge of NQF level descriptors, credit systems, curriculum alignment and external peer review. Sound knowledge of National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) requirements and of regional and international quality assurance frameworks (ASG-QA, ESG and INQAAHE) is essential. A doctoral qualification, experience with professional or international accreditation bodies, and certified training in quality assurance will be an advantage.
