Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor / Supervisor Workshop is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily maintenance and workshop activities across the property to ensure the availability, reliability and safety of facilities, equipment and infrastructure.

The role oversees preventative and corrective maintenance, allocates work and resources, coordinates emergency repairs and breakdowns, supervises contractors and workshop activities, and ensures maintenance standards, safety requirements and service levels are consistently achieved. The position also supports maintenance projects and refurbishments while ensuring minimal disruption to property operations.

The role requires specialist technical knowledge across facilities maintenance, workshop management, contractor coordination and maintenance planning within a 24-hour hospitality and gaming environment.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • N4–N6 Technical Qualification or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or Facilities Maintenance [Required]
  • Trade Test – advantageous
  • Facilities Management qualification – advantageous
  • Registration with SAFMA or another accredited facilities/engineering body – [Preferred]

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant maintenance experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience within a maintenance supervisory environment
  • Project management experience
  • Experience managing contractors and/or suppliers
  • Experience coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Experience supervising maintenance activities, resources and work schedules
  • Exposure to electrical, mechanical, HVAC and general building maintenance
  • Experience monitoring maintenance standards, safety and compliance
  • Experience coordinating emergency repairs and breakdowns
  • Ability to supervise and develop maintenance employees
  • Ability to work shifts in line with operational requirements
  • Physical ability to work with relevant machinery and equipment and move around the property as required.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Coordinate daily maintenance and workshop activities across the property.
  • Allocate maintenance resources, employees and work schedules.
  • Conduct property inspections and maintenance walkabouts.
  • Execute and monitor preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and equipment breakdowns.
  • Monitor equipment performance, infrastructure reliability and maintenance response times.
  • Manage maintenance work orders and support the operational readiness of critical infrastructure.
  • Supervise contractor activities and verify the quality of completed work.
  • Monitor contractor performance and SLA compliance.
  • Coordinate minor capital projects and support refurbishment programmes.
  • Conduct maintenance compliance inspections and ensure statutory inspections are completed.
  • Monitor occupational health and safety standards and support SHE initiatives.
  • Identify and address maintenance risks and hazards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Coach and develop maintenance employees and monitor team performance.
  • Communicate planned maintenance and service interruptions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate maintenance reports and escalate major infrastructure, compliance and project risks where required.
