Maintenance Manager

SUMMARY:
Luxury Hotel based in Sandton is looking for a Maintenance Manager to oversee the physical upkeep, safety compliance, and operational reliability of a hotel's buildings, equipment, and guest accommodation areas.

POSITION INFO:
Duties: Conduct routine checks of guest rooms, public lobbies, back-of-house facilities, and exterior grounds to identify and fix issues promptly. Develop and execute proactive maintenance schedules for critical systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical networks, and elevators to minimize downtime. Supervise, train, and schedule internal maintenance technicians and janitorial staff, assigning daily workloads and emergency response tasks. Source, vet, and oversee external service providers and specialized contractors for major repairs, renovations, or specialized servicing. Manage departmental expenses, track spare parts inventories, order replacement supplies, and assist upper management with capital improvement planning. Ensure all facilities adhere strictly to local building codes, fire safety regulations, and occupational health standards. Requirements: Grade 12 At least 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management capacity (hospitality background preferred). Strong working proficiency in electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting. Technical trade certification, diploma, or degree in engineering or facilities management is a strong advantage. Exceptional problem-solving abilities, calm demeanour during emergencies, effective leadership, and basic computer literacy for tracking work orders.
