We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Noordhoek Manor, situated on Ou Kaapse Weg in Noordhoek, Southern Suburbs.
This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting the day-to-day upkeep of the retirement village and healthcare facility. You will assist with general building maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance and the upkeep of equipment and shared spaces, ensuring the property remains safe, functional and well maintained for our residents and staff.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Complete scheduled and preventative maintenance in accordance with the maintenance rosters and schedules for the village and healthcare facility.
- Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical-related tasks within the scope of the role.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents, staff and management.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property, buildings, equipment and common areas to identify maintenance requirements.
- Maintain roofs, gutters, building exteriors and other structural areas, ensuring they remain in good repair.
- Assist with the maintenance of plant and equipment and ensure maintenance schedules are kept up to date.
- Support the Village and Healthcare Management teams with the coordination and monitoring of on-site maintenance contractors where required.
- Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are kept in good working condition and securely stored.
- Keep maintenance stores, workshops and work areas clean, organised and properly maintained.
- Report larger maintenance concerns, defects or required repairs to management promptly.
- Assist with general maintenance requirements across the property as operationally required.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and safe working practices at all times.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 advantageous
- Trade-related qualification or certification in Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Building Maintenance or General Maintenance advantageous
- Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act advantageous
Experience and Knowledge:
- Previous experience in a general maintenance, handyman, facilities or property maintenance role
- Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and electrical maintenance
- Experience working with general maintenance tools and equipment
- Ability to identify maintenance problems and carry out minor repairs independently
- Code 10 driver's licence and valid PDP
