Maintenance & Property Assistant

SUMMARY:
A guest house in Pongola is looking for a reliable, hands-on individual to oversee the general maintenance and upkeep of the property. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the guest house, its facilities and surrounding areas are clean, well-maintained and in good working condition.

Accommodation will be provided as part of the position.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements Previous experience in general maintenance, property maintenance or a similar hands-on role. Good practical skills and the ability to handle basic repairs. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical maintenance, painting and general handyman work will be advantageous. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Reliable, trustworthy and responsible. Good problem-solving skills. Valid driver's licence. Key Responsibilities Conduct general maintenance and repairs throughout the guest house. Maintain the gardens, outdoor areas and surrounding property. Identify and attend to maintenance issues before they become bigger problems. Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting and handyman duties. Ensure that rooms, common areas and facilities are kept in good working order. Monitor the condition of furniture, fixtures, equipment and property infrastructure. Coordinate external contractors when specialised repairs are required. Assist with general property upkeep and other maintenance-related duties as required. Ensure that the property is safe, neat and presentable at all times.
