Salary: Market related Location: Midrand Employment type: Fixed-term contract Contract duration: 12 months Working arrangement: On site Our client is seeking an experienced Logistics Operation Controller to coordinate imports, exports, cross-haul movements and warehouse deliveries. The role includes managing shipment documentation, transport arrangements, service providers and billing, with regular communication to customers and relevant stakeholders. Responsibilities Coordinate import and export shipments with customers, suppliers, freight forwarders and relevant teams. Compare freight estimates and arrange shipment bookings in line with customer requirements and agreed delivery dates. Verify shipping documents, resolve discrepancies and provide complete documentation to clearing agents ahead of shipment arrival. Coordinate timely customs clearance, port collections, warehouse deliveries and empty-container returns. Issue transport instructions and maintain port collection information on Navis. Monitor vessel schedules, investigate delays and provide daily shipment tracking updates. Obtain proof of delivery within 24 hours and manage shipment timelines to prevent demurrage, detention and storage charges. Monitor logistics service providers against agreed procedures and verify freight, transport and standing-time charges. Prepare completed shipment files for invoicing and service-provider settlement, obtaining customer approval for additional costs. Verify supplier pre-billing schedules against contractual rates and prepare accounts receivable and accounts payable amounts for system capture. Liaise with finance on payment dates, share remittances with suppliers and follow up on accounts within agreed credit terms. Requirements Matric with exemption and a logistics qualification. Three to five years' experience in a similar operations role. Sound knowledge of import procedures and basic knowledge of Incoterms. Experience coordinating shipments, customs clearance, transport and delivery activities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Working experience with logistics systems. Willingness and availability to monitor operations after hours and on weekends. Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
