Lead Technical Business Automation Workflow (Software Engineer)

SUMMARY:
Our client, one of South Africa's leading banks and a recognised leader in technical innovation and cutting-edge financial solutions, is seeking an accomplished Lead Technical Business Automation Workflow (Software Engineer) to apply computer science theories, principals to create, refactor moderate to complex programs/scripts, integration software services.

This role involves translating complex business and technical requirements into robust software solutions, including designing technical specifications, coding, testing, debugging and optimising applications within continuous delivery pipelines.

Also be responsible for providing ongoing system support and maintenance, ensuring software solutions are scalable, reliable and aligned with established engineering practices, development standards, architectural frameworks, technology roadmaps and application architecture guidelines.

POSITION INFO:
In order to be considered the following is required: Degree or Postgraduate in Information Technology 5-7 years broad experience in translating business and functional requirements into technical specifications and developing the programming code to create the solutions 8-10 years proven experience in modern engineering practices i.e. dev ops, agile etc., Proven experience across multiple, broad IT Engineering disciplines, with demonstrated specialisation in at least one. Experience within the required scope of expertise Technical Knowledge: Required: Proficiency in Software Engineering, Object-Oriented Design principles, and development. Essential: Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach as an architect / developer. Experience in BAW / BPM, SOA, system architecture, and design Process modeling (BPMN 2.0), Process Applications, Business Process Definitions (BPDs) Coach UI / Coach Views development (Dojo, custom widgets) - you've dealt with caching issues here yourself Business Object modeling, Integration Services / SCA BAW REST APIs, Process Portal customisation Performance tuning / troubleshooting for BAW runtime (thread pools, DB connection pools, caching) Environment/topology knowledge: WebSphere / Liberty deployment, cluster/HA topology for BAW Expertise in full software development life cycle Strong experience in Java / J2EE technologies Strong knowledge on HTML, jQuery, CSS, JavaScript and UI frameworks Solid background in Spring & Hibernate Hands-on experience in developing SOAP & REST services Familiarity with common browser developer tools and performance tuning techniques Experience in building high availability multi-threaded applications Knowledge of DevOps tools, e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity, SONAR is a plus Familiarity with Database technologies - RDBMS or NoSQL Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of developers Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, design patterns, and best practices Familiarity with Agile / Scrum development processes and tools Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically Responsibilities: Adhere to application lifecycle management accountabilities, architectural platforms and guardrails and ensure that all activity is digitally recorded and tracked to enhance reporting, to support process review and improvement and to maintain an audit ready posture Adopt and adhere to suitable and agreed development methodologies and principles through work outputs and behaviours that enables continuous delivery and development across the production environment as well as ensuring effective collaboration with all colleagues and stakeholders in order to meet required targets and therefore deliver value to the customer Coach or mentor less experienced Engineers on technical aspects of application development, controls and documentation standards as well as on engaging effectively with relevant stakeholders Construct, interpret and execute moderate to complex end to end system and program tests to verify correct operation of completed systems Contribute to programmes and platforms for the processing, analysis and visual display of data, integrating new and existing data sources and ensuring the validity and reliability of data to support data driven decision making (as required) Develop code, build, assemble, implement, test and perform data conversion for applications and ensure that processes are accurately documented. Perform system enhancements for the applications as required to ensure the delivery of functional, quality applications as required by business Develop fully functional applications across all platforms that are in line with current technologies and standards and publish them to the relevant platform to enhance the functioning and experience of employees Develop specifications that support the design, coding, building, assembling, configuring, implementation, testing, data conversion as well as documentation and enhancements for the team and users of solutions Develop tier coding, business layer coding, interface development, service development and ensure creation of stored procedures, etc. as applicable for the work package / project, understand the database concepts and write efficient queries, and ensure alignment to specifications, constraints, required standards, guidelines and best practices Develop, complete and update all required documentation as per the scope, including guidelines and checklists for development and testing purposes Engage with leads to receive feedback on work completed and communicate any concerns, issues, risks and progress regarding work output to enable a culture of continuous development and learning and aim to resolve all issues and risks Look actively for opportunities to shorten development timelines, share expert technical knowledge and skills to improve skills of the team and improve cost efficiency of application development activities Manage work requirements effectively by contributing to the reprioritizing of backlogs and reacting flexibly to changing demands, through effective use of resources, understanding of work complexity, size and technical requirements. Deliver against targets within every iteration as well as continuously striving to improve the quality of deliverables, therefore delivering the highest possible value to the customer Participate in the definition of complex, often abstract problems that extend across multiple business lines and functions through engagements with senior leaders and apply a creative approach to solving the problems which will address both technical and people or culture challenges simultaneously Perform quality assurance on code, documents and test plans completed by less experienced developers to ensure these meet the required standards as well as to identify and implement learning opportunities Prepare test cases for unit testing purposes, conduct unit testing and deploy code build in testing environment to ensure that errors are detected and resolved within service level timelines Produce specifications for systems functions, information flows, data loads, implementation strategy, phasing of development, requirements not met and alternatives considered Provide support and production standby post go live adhering to release methodology and technical change management procedures for all changes Scope plan, design and review end to end solutions against standards, methods and procedures, proposing enhancements and revisions as part of the broader Engineering community Strive to reach mature levels on the Continuum model by building own and team competence to work in a continuous delivery environment.
