The Junior Full Stack Python Software Developer assists in developing, testing, and maintaining solutions across the full technology stack under the guidance of senior and intermediate developers. Working as part of an Agile team, the developer will learn and apply modern development and DevOps practices while contributing to Eduvos’s enterprise applications. The role suits a motivated developer with a foundation in Python and modern JavaScript/TypeScript who is eager to grow their skills and committed to writing high-quality code. 

Application Development & Maintenance 

• Develop, test, and maintain frontend and backend features under the guidance of senior team members. 

• Assist in building and maintaining RESTful APIs and database components. 

• Fix bugs and implement small enhancements to existing applications and workflows. 

• Write unit tests for your own code to ensure quality. 

• Follow secure coding practices and team coding standards. 

Agile Practices 

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives). 

• Ask questions to clarify user stories and requirements. 

• Complete assigned tasks within agreed sprint timelines. 

DevOps Practices 

• Learn and use the team’s CI/CD processes and Azure DevOps (or similar) tools. 

• Assist with deployments under supervision. 

• Report issues and blockers promptly. 

Learning & Technical Growth 

• Take part in code reviews and apply feedback to improve your code. 

• Build your knowledge of the team’s tech stack, tools, and best practices.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting 

• Investigate and resolve technical issues with support from senior developers.

User Support 

• Assist in resolving user queries and support tickets within SLA targets. 

• Support end-user training and documentation where needed. 

Qualifications / Education 

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF 7 qualification (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Technology) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 

Experience 

• 1–2 years of hands-on software development experience building web applications in a professional environment. A graduate programme or internship of 6 months or more may count towards this. 

• At least 1 year of experience with Python, including a framework such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI. 

• At least 1 year of experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular). 

• At least 1 year  of experience working with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries. 

Advantageous 

• A portfolio or GitHub profile showing full stack projects. 

• Exposure to REST APIs, Docker, or cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure). 

• Exposure to Agile ways of working or CI/CD tools. 

Technical / Functional Competencies: 

• Frontend: Foundational knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3/Tailwind, with exposure to a modern framework (e.g. React, Vue.js, or Angular). 

• Backend: Foundational knowledge of Python and exposure to Django, Flask, or FastAPI. 

• Databases: Understanding of relational database concepts and the ability to write basic to intermediate SQL queries. 

• Tools: Familiarity with Git and a willingness to learn Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Docker. 

• Testing: Understanding of the importance of unit testing and willingness to write tests. 

• Basic understanding of web security and of how frontend, backend, and databases work together. 

• Logical problem solving and debugging skills.
