Interior Designer

POSITION INFO:
The role covers the full project lifecycle , from architectural plans and design development through technical documentation, sourcing and supplier coordination to costing, production, installation and finalisation. The role Working closely with senior members of the design team, the Interior Designer will develop approved concepts into accurate, practical and executable design information. Responsibilities will include: Developing space plans, furniture layouts, elevations, sections, ceiling and lighting plans, flooring layouts and other technical documentation. Producing detailed drawings for custom carpentry, built-in elements, bespoke furniture, upholstery and specialist installations. Reviewing architectural drawings and 3D models, and redrawing or developing models where required. Sourcing and specifying furniture, appliances, sanitaryware, flooring, lighting, hardware, fabrics, finishes and other products. Checking dimensions, installation requirements, services, availability, lead times and budget implications before products are specified. Maintaining accurate finishes files, drawing revisions, schedules and project documentation. Coordinating with suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and specialist consultants to ensure designs are practical and buildable. Working with rendering, branding, costing, production and project teams to keep design information consistent. Reviewing supplier drawings, prototypes, samples and manufacturing information where required. Conducting or coordinating site measurements and checking site conditions against drawings. Supporting projects through costing, production, installation and final completion rather than handing over once the drawings are done. Contributing to furniture, hardware, accessory and product development projects when required. What the role requires This position would suit an Interior Designer who is comfortable moving between the creative and technical sides of design . Strong attention to detail is important, as is the ability to think about how a design will be manufactured, transported, installed, maintained and delivered within budget. The successful candidate should have working proficiency in relevant design, 3D modelling and technical documentation software , together with the ability to read and interpret architectural and consultant drawings. A practical understanding of construction, materials, finishes, furniture, carpentry, lighting, flooring and manufacturing will be valuable. Good organisation, document control, communication and time-management skills are also important, particularly when managing several deliverables and coordinating across different project teams. The person The ideal candidate will be creative and visually strong, but also accurate, organised and commercially aware. They should understand scale, proportion, circulation and spatial relationships, take ownership of their work and be comfortable raising questions or potential problems early rather than waiting for them to become expensive problems on site. The role requires someone who can work independently on assigned responsibilities while collaborating effectively with designers, suppliers, contractors and internal teams.
