Interim Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager (Contract)

An established property group is seeking a seasoned CA(SA) to step into a key finance leadership position during an important period of transition and growth. This opportunity calls for an experienced finance professional who can quickly embed into the business, provide strategic oversight, and ensure the smooth running of a complex finance function. You'll take ownership of reporting, compliance, cash flow, property finance operations, and team leadership while partnering closely with senior stakeholders to maintain momentum and drive performance across a multi-entity portfolio. Property industry experience is an absolute requirement. Candidates without direct property finance exposure will unfortunately not be considered. The Opportunity Immediate start preferred Fixed-term contract with potential for a permanent appointment Office-based leadership role Direct exposure to executive management Opportunity to make an immediate impact within a significant property portfolio Key Areas of Responsibility Finance Leadership Assume responsibility for the end-to-end finance function. Lead the preparation and review of monthly management reporting. Oversee month-end and year-end financial processes. Provide accurate financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions. Ensure financial information remains reliable, accurate, and timely. Property Portfolio Finance Manage tenant income, billings, and recoveries. Oversee utility recoveries and related reconciliations. Monitor debtors, collections, and arrears performance. Ensure effective financial administration across the property portfolio. Support asset performance through effective financial management and reporting. Governance & Financial Control Manage cash flow, treasury activities, and payment processes. Maintain robust internal controls and financial governance practices. Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate audit processes and stakeholder engagements. Leadership & Business Continuity Lead and support an established finance team. Maintain operational effectiveness during the transition period. Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices. Ensure critical finance procedures are documented and transferred appropriately. Support a seamless handover to the long-term finance leader if required. Requirements Qualifications ✅ Chartered Accountant | CA(SA) Experience ✅ Minimum 8 years' finance experience ✅ Proven success in a: Financial Controller role Finance Manager role Senior Finance Manager role Similar finance leadership position ✅ Essential experience within: Commercial Property Property Management Property Funds Real Estate Finance Environments ✅ Strong background in: Tenant billing and recoveries Utility and municipal recoveries Cash flow forecasting Financial reporting Multi-entity structures Team leadership ✅ Experience managing large or diversified property portfolios will be advantageous.
