Import/Export Controller – Durban - Onsite

POSITION INFO:
ENVIRONMENT: Our client is looking for an experienced Import\/Export Controller with at least 5 years' experience in clearing and forwarding operations to join a Durban-based team.  You'll handle import shipment registrations, customs documentation, SARS Bills of Entry, cargo dues, port releases and the coordination of sea freight shipments, including FCL, break bulk and bulk cargo. Strong experience with Easy Clear (or similar systems), EDI submissions, tariff heading determination, customs regulations and shipping documentation is essential. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive and confident managing shipments, resolving customs queries and liaising with clients and suppliers.       Requirements •       Import Registration of shipments on Easy Clear or similar programmes •       Frame & EDI Bills of Entries (Import - Sea freight) to SARS within the prescribed period according to the SARS Act. •       Submission of Cargo Dues on OTC. •       Experience with Tariff Heading Determination. •       Knowledge of Break Bulk, FCL & Bulk Shipments. •       Processing Landing Orders. •       Arrange Port Health, Plant Inspector, State Vet and NRCS Releases. •       Handle all Customs, SAPS and Borders police Stops until it is released. •       Effective stakeholder management and engagement, ensuring client requirements are executed in line with expectations. •       Management of supplier and client accounts, including the processing and administration of supplier and client invoices. •       Knowledge of Import \/ Export Control Act - Prohibited & Restricted goods. •       Solid Clearing and Forwarding Import and Exports experience required. •       Sound knowledge of shipping documents & procedures required. •       Must be able to work within a team and work unsupervised. •       Staying abreast of Industry changes. •       Good mathematical and analytical skill sets. •       Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to assist with problem solving and delivering on expectations. •       Matric Certificate, diploma in Customs Clearing and Logistics will be an advantage. •       Working experience of Min. of 5 years in Operations through Import and export activities for Medium \/ Large business. •       Well-organised and proactive individual, capable of managing workload efficiently while contributing positively as a team player.     Job Objective •       Liaising with Clients and Service providers •       Frame Clearances on Compu-Clear\/ Easy Clear or similar programmes covering import bills of entry, landing and cargo due orders, VOCs, and refunds. •       Handle queries from SARS Customs\/Ports Authorities and Shipping Lines •       Obtain releases from shipping lines. •       Must be able to arrange plant inspection and communicate with surveyors to assist with arrangements of samples for various principal. •       Reconcile supplier invoices to ensure correctly charged and arrange payment where and when necessary. •       Plan transport and delivery – liaise with warehouse\/transporter\/mines\/plants – after hour function. •       Invoice files •       Communicate efficiently with clients, service providers and management always. •       Must be willing to work after hours when necessary. •       Must be prepared to share knowledge and assist in skills development and multi-skilling. •       Assist in developing customer relationships and new business acquisitions. •       Processing of VOC's, Customs Refunds & Acquittals. Check the accuracy of source documents. You are expected to sort and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered, as well as locate and correct data entry errors. also, a keen eye for picking up errors or potential errors is important. •       Follow up with regards to requesting of ANF \/ Shipping line invoices •       Submission of relevant documents to the Shipping Lines for final release and Navis update. •       And any other duties\/tasks relevant to the position as delegated by Management.
