SUMMARY:
A leading organisation in the freight forwarding and logistics sector is seeking an experienced Import LCL Controller. This permanent, full‑time role can be based in either Cape Town or Centurion and offers the opportunity to manage less‑than‑container‑load (LCL) imports from origin booking through to final delivery. The position requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong knowledge of the import process, shipping documentation, and South African port operations.
POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Coordinate import LCL shipments with overseas agents and consolidators, from booking to arrival Track vessels, sailings, and ETAs, keeping clients proactively updated Verify shipping documents (house and master bills of lading, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin) for accuracy Liaise with the customs clearing team to ensure timely submission of entries and cargo release Arrange deconsolidation, depot\/CFS collection, and final delivery with transporters Manage storage, demurrage, and other costs to avoid unnecessary charges Prepare job costings and quotes, ensuring all charges are invoiced correctly Resolve operational issues such as delays, short or damaged cargo, and documentation errors Maintain accurate shipment records on the freight system Requirements Matric Freight forwarding or customs qualification advantageous Minimum 3 years' experience in import sea freight, ideally with LCL Strong knowledge of Incoterms, shipping documents, and import processes in South African ports Working knowledge of freight systems (e.g., Shipshape) advantageous Excellent communication skills with clients, agents, and suppliers Highly organised, accurate, and able to manage multiple shipments under pressure Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Outlook Own transport and valid driver's licence
