Human Capital Manager

We are seeking an experienced Human Capital Manager to provide strategic and operational HR leadership across the organisation.

The successful candidate will partner with management and branch leadership to support organisational development, workforce planning, employee engagement, company culture and the effective implementation of HR strategies and processes.

The role will oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, talent management, compensation and benefits, HR policies, compliance and employee development.

Although based in Johannesburg, the position will require periodic travel to sites in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, including interviews and onboarding.
• Develop and implement talent acquisition and retention strategies.
• Manage employee relations, including grievances, disciplinary matters and conflict resolution.
• Manage union relations and attend union meetings and related matters as required.
• Guide branch managers on performance management, evaluations and improvement strategies.
• Analyse historical performance data and develop initiatives to improve employee performance.
• Oversee employee benefits, provident fund, compensation structures, payroll and rewards programmes.
• Ensure compliance with South African labour legislation and employment regulations.
• Manage employment-related legal matters, contracts, terminations and workplace policies.
• Lead and manage Employment Equity meetings and oversee the implementation of the Employment Equity plan.
• Design and implement training and development initiatives.
• Develop, review and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with organisational objectives.
• Promote workplace health, safety and employee well-being.
• Review OHS policies and related documentation.
• Promote inclusion, diversity and a positive workplace culture.
• Provide strategic HR guidance and support to management and branch leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a similar HR management role.
• Proven experience in leading and managing HR functions.
• Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation, HR policies and best practices.
• Experience with employee relations, disciplinary processes and union matters.
• Experience with performance management, talent management and employee development.
• Knowledge of compensation, benefits and payroll processes.
• Strong understanding of Employment Equity requirements.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel periodically to company sites in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
