An intimate, family-friendly safari lodge on an open Greater Kruger reserve is seeking an experienced HEAD GUIDE (LEAD TRAILS) to lead its guiding team

POSITION INFO:
This is a senior, hands-on role for a seasoned guide who can set the standard in the field while mentoring and directing a team of three guides and four trackers. The ideal candidate combines deep bushcraft and guest-facing polish with the maturity to lead by example. Core Criteria: Valid Lead Trails Guide qualification with ARH, First Aid and PDP Extensive, proven guiding experience in Big Five country Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing a team of guides and trackers A mature, experienced professional with strong leadership presence Outstanding guest interaction and interpretation skills Sound judgement and a strong commitment to guest and team safety Comfortable living and working in a remote bush environment Core Responsibilities: Lead, schedule, and oversee the guiding and tracking team Conduct game drives and guided bush walks to the highest standard Coach and mentor guides and trackers, supporting their ongoing development Uphold safety protocols for all guest activities in the field Ensure a consistently engaging, informative, and memorable guest experience Maintain vehicle standards, equipment, and daily activity readiness Liaise with lodge management on guest needs, sightings, and operational planning Promote responsible, ethical wildlife viewing practices On Offer: Salary around R16,000 per month, negotiable based on qualifications and experience Live-in position
