General Assistant - Press

Job Advert Summary

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and safety-conscious General Assistant to join our Press Department. The successful candidate will provide support to press operators and production teams, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery, maintaining housekeeping standards, and assisting with the production process to meet quality and productivity targets.

• To load or/ and offload products on the lines ensuring the achievement of the production throughout.
• Visual identification of non-conforming products.
• Monitor and check production processes to ensure they are within acceptable standards.
• Monitor and check quality and ensure non-conformance are reported timeously.
• Monitor and move raw materials, profiles, and finished products.
• Stack products in accordance with layout plan.
• Move full/ empty containers to required locations as per instructions.
• Record production, downtime and wastage.
• Ensure conformance to housekeeping, health and safety standards.
• Required to work shifts and overtime.
• Assist with general warehouse and/ or production duties.
• Safe storage of materials.
• Routine safety inspections and reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
• Assisting other departments when needed.
• Pulling or picking of material.
• Strapping material.
• Sweeping and housekeeping.

•    Minimum NQF Level 4 – 5 Grade 12 / Higher Certificate essential. 
•    Knowledge on material grades and steel products will be advantageous. 
•    Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment will be advantageous.
•    Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
•    Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.
•    Able to read, write and communicate in English and use measuring equipment. 
•    Basic understanding of workplace safety practices
