Full Stack Developer

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Full Stack Developer to join a collaborative software development team responsible for maintaining and enhancing an established SaaS platform.

The platform supports complex business processes, including supplier onboarding, prequalification assessments, compliance management, document management, sustainability assessments, reporting, and third-party integrations.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in both front-end and back-end development, with particular emphasis on Vue.js, JavaScript, PHP, Laravel, and database technologies. They must be comfortable working with existing codebases, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and delivering reliable, maintainable solutions independently.

This role is ideal for a developer who combines strong technical problem-solving abilities with practical front-end development skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

1. Front-End Development

• Develop and maintain responsive, interactive user interfaces using Vue.js 3, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.

• Build reusable Vue components using the Composition API, props, events, computed properties, watchers, and reactive state.

• Develop complex forms, data tables, filters, modals, validation functionality, and dynamic user interfaces.

• Integrate front-end components with REST APIs and back-end services.

• Work with Sass/SCSS, Bootstrap, and existing jQuery-based components.

• Troubleshoot and resolve front-end issues, including CSS conflicts, layout inconsistencies, JavaScript errors, and reactivity problems.

• Contribute to the modernisation of legacy front-end functionality, including migration to modern UI component libraries.

• Ensure interfaces are responsive, accessible, intuitive, and consistent.

2. Back-End Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using PHP and Laravel.

• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.

• Implement business logic using object-oriented programming principles and established design patterns.

• Work with Laravel controllers, services, models, policies, jobs, queues, and scheduled tasks.

• Maintain and enhance complex business workflows, including questionnaire processing, notifications, approval processes, and reporting.

• Design, optimise, and maintain database queries across MySQL and MongoDB.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and inefficient database operations.

• Implement appropriate application security, validation, authentication, and authorisation practices.

3. Debugging, Troubleshooting and Quality Assurance

• Independently investigate and resolve front-end, back-end, database, and integration issues.

• Use browser developer tools, network inspection, console debugging, breakpoints, stack traces, and application logs to identify root causes.

• Reproduce reported defects, isolate affected components, and implement reliable solutions.

• Analyse and troubleshoot existing code developed by other team members.

• Write and maintain automated tests and conduct manual testing where required.

• Validate changes to minimise regressions and maintain application stability.

• Communicate technical findings, proposed solutions, risks, and potential impacts clearly.

4. Collaboration and Delivery

• Take ownership of assigned features and technical issues from investigation through implementation, testing, and deployment.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and development planning.

• Use Git and GitHub in accordance with established branching and code review practices.

• Support deployments, release validation, and production troubleshooting.

• Maintain appropriate technical documentation.

• Collaborate effectively within a small development team while working independently when required.

• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical improvements, and the ongoing evolution of the platform.

Essential Technical RequirementsFront-End Technologies

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.

• Professional experience developing applications using Vue.js, preferably Vue 3.

• Solid understanding of component architecture, reactivity, props, events, computed properties, watchers, and state management.

• Demonstrated ability to develop responsive interfaces and troubleshoot front-end issues independently.

• Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs.

• Confident use of browser developer tools for debugging and performance investigation.

• Experience with UI component libraries such as PrimeVue, Vuetify, or similar.

Back-End Technologies

• Strong proficiency in object-oriented PHP.

• Practical commercial experience with Laravel or a comparable modern PHP framework.

• Good understanding of MVC architecture, dependency injection, design patterns, and maintainable application structures.

• Experience developing and consuming APIs.

• Understanding of application security, data validation, authentication, and authorisation.

Database Technologies

• Strong SQL knowledge, including joins, indexes, relationships, and query optimisation.

• Professional experience with MySQL or an equivalent relational database.

• Experience with MongoDB or another document-oriented database.

• Ability to investigate slow queries and resolve database performance issues.

Debugging and Development Practices

• Proven ability to analyse unfamiliar code and independently troubleshoot technical problems.

• Proficiency in using debugging tools, breakpoints, stack traces, and application logs.

• Ability to systematically reproduce, isolate, resolve, and test defects.

• Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows.

• Familiarity with unit testing and automated testing practices.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

The following will be advantageous:

• Advanced experience with the Laravel ecosystem, including Eloquent ORM, queues, jobs, policies, and scheduled tasks.

• Strong Vue.js 3 Composition API and PrimeVue experience.

• Experience with Pinia or Vuex state management.

• Experience maintaining legacy applications using jQuery and jQuery DataTables.

• Familiarity with Bootstrap, Sass/SCSS, Vite, and modern JavaScript build tools.

• Experience with MongoDB aggregation pipelines and document modelling.

• Linux server administration experience, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.

• Familiarity with PHP-FPM, Supervisor, cron jobs, and server logs.

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, including DigitalOcean or similar platforms.

• Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience integrating third-party APIs, including SOAP services.

• Experience developing SaaS platforms with complex business rules, workflows, and reporting requirements.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and the ability to review, validate, and test AI-generated code appropriately.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 4 years of professional full-stack development experience, or equivalent demonstrated technical capability.

• Substantial commercial experience delivering both front-end and back-end functionality.

• Proven ability to investigate and resolve technical issues independently.

• Experience working with established applications and existing codebases.

• A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is advantageous. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
