Manage FRESH PRODUCE targets and profitability
Implement production chain system of all stock in the Fresh Produce to optimize shelf life
Set ideal stock levels per product category
Ensure transfers are accurately recorded on a daily basis
Ensure consistent quality in freshness and presentation
Ensure scales are correctly calibrated and products and prices are accurately maintained
Design in house Fresh Produce promotions
Develop new value added lines for the Fresh Produce
Order correct quantities of products by maintaining ideal stock levels during different trading periods
Negotiate deals with suppliers
Spot check Fresh Produce price tickets on display to ensure current, neat and tidy prices
Spot check displays to ensure accurate labels are used on prepacks for product, price and sell by dates
Conduct spot checks to ensure accurate pricing is being maintained
Conduct price surveys and ensure prices are competitive on KVI’s
POSWARE updates are maintained on a daily basis
Ensure correct chemicals and procedures are used to maintain a sanitized and pest free environment
Ensure + 90% achieved on an ongoing basis
Conduct spot check to ensure that all Upright shelves, mellow bins and Fresh Produce boats are clean and products neatly displayed
All equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s recommendation and full working order. Full maintenance needed is done before Easter and Christmas
All staff in the Fresh Produce are trained to carry out the requirements of their jobs effectively
All staff are aware of the required work standards and given and performance review 2x per year
Schedules are set daily/weekly to optimize staff within budget, limiting use of casuals and overtime
Extend beyond personal responsibilities to assist fellow teammates and be respectful, appreciative, fair and thankful
Develop a system to ensure that all customer orders are produced to quality standards in the correct time
Advise customers on Fresh Produce product range and baking methods and suggestions

Job Requirements

Matric / NQF level 4 equivalent
Tertiary Qualifications in Retail management / equivalent
At least 5 years experience in all aspects of day-to-day running and managing of a floor Department / Trainee Management Programme
Computer literacy required
Industrial Relations experience recommended
Prepared to work long hours
