POSITION INFO:
Requirements: CA(SA), CIMA (CGMA) or SAIPA professional accountant; CIMA is a strong advantage given the costing focus. A degree in accounting or finance. At least 5 years in a senior finance role (financial manager, senior financial accountant or cost accountant) in a manufacturing business. Exposure to trade finance, customs duty drawback or export VAT. Exposure to brewery or food-grade stainless steel equipment. Job costing in a project-based, make-to-order or engineer-to-order environment; metal fabrication, engineering or process equipment preferred. Inventory and WIP valuation, stock counts and stock reconciliations. Imported materials, landed costs and foreign currency transactions. Producing month-end management accounts and managing an audit. Managing at least one direct report. Standard and actual costing, overhead absorption and variance analysis. IFRS for SMEs or full IFRS, including IAS 2 inventory and IFRS 15 revenue from contracts. Experience with a mid-market ERP (Palladium, Sage, SYSPRO or similar), ideally including a costing or manufacturing module. Responsibilities: Own the job costing model across all projects: material, labour, subcontract and overhead allocation per job. Set and maintain labour and overhead recovery rates, and review them against actuals. Compare quoted cost and margin with actual cost per project. Explain variances to the MD and the project team. Work with Sales and Projects on cost estimates so quotes reflect real cost. Track buy-outs and supplier costs against project budgets as projects progress. Value raw materials, WIP and finished goods accurately at each month-end. Run stock counts and investigate variances. Keep the stock ledger reconciled to the general ledger. Manage imported stock costing, including landed cost (freight, duty, clearing) and foreign exchange. Deliver the monthly management accounts to an agreed timetable, including project margin reporting. Keep balance sheet reconciliations current; clear suspense and control accounts monthly. Apply revenue recognition policy consistently at project level. Prepare for and manage the annual audit. Maintain purchase, payment and stock controls appropriate to a growing manufacturer. Oversee VAT, payroll taxes and customs compliance, including duty drawback claims. Maintain the weekly rolling cash flow forecast. Manage trade finance drawdowns and settlements and the facility's borrowing base reporting. Own the finance and costing modules in Palladium after go-live; drive process improvement and data accuracy. Manage, develop and review the work of the Accountant. Please note that if you do not receive a response within 2 weeks, your application has been unsuccessful.
