POSITION INFO:
A leading financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional who can take ownership of financial control, reporting and accounting responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support the finance function across statutory accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, financial controls and business partnering. We are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller who is immediately available and can step into the role with minimal onboarding. The ideal candidate will have strong post-articles experience, excellent technical accounting knowledge and the ability to operate confidently across financial reporting, controls, reconciliations and stakeholder engagement. Duties: Perform general accounting duties, including journals, creditor payments, month-end processes and VAT reconciliations. Prepare and review monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. Assist with financial reporting and provide variance analysis and financial insights. Ensure accurate and timely financial information. Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and queries. Contribute to the audit process and resolve audit queries within required deadlines. Review journals and ensure invoices are captured accurately and timeously. Monitor and maintain appropriate financial controls. Assist with budgeting, financial planning and cost optimisation. Analyse expenses against budgets and investigate variances. Provide financial commentary, trend analysis and reporting insights. Support the development and improvement of finance processes and reporting. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Provide finance support and advice to the broader business. Job Experience & Skills Required: Qualifications: Matric (Grade 12) Bachelor's Degree in Accounting BCom Honours in Accounting AGA(SA) or eligibility for registration with SAICA. Experience: Completed SAICA Articles 2-3 years post-articles experience is essential. Experience within the financial services industry would be advantageous. Strong understanding of financial accounting, controls and reporting processes. Experience with financial systems and accounting processes.
