Environmental Specialist (Mining & Processing)

SUMMARY:
Responsible for overseeing environmental performance, compliance and monitoring at site level, including air, water and land quality, environmental assessments, licensing, permitting and regulatory requirements.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Oversee the sites environmental performance Develop, implement and monitor environmental strategies Ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation Conduct environmental audits and assessments Identify environmental risks and improvement opportunities Investigate and manage environmental complaints Liaise with government and regulatory authorities Coordinate pollution control, waste management and environmental matters Maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Monitor environmental performance and reporting Provide environmental advice to senior management Prepare environmental reports Monitor environmental costs against budget Minimum Requirements Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent ND in Environmental Studies/Science Lead Auditor qualification for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 NNR-approved Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) qualification 8 years or more environmental experience , including at least 3 years in the chemical or fertilizer industry Strong computer skills Excellent report-writing, communication and interpersonal skills Able to work independently and as part of a team Assertive, decisive and professional
