Engineer Level 2 (Systems Engineer)

Key Responsibilities

• System Integration: Develop a deep understanding of all systems within scope and ensure seamless integration.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance production processes through technology-driven solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external customers, and suppliers on complex technical matters.
• Systems Standards: Continuously review and improve system standards to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• System Development: Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and commissioning of new systems.
• Database Design: Design, audit, and optimize databases to meet business and process requirements.
• Technology Management: Stay ahead of evolving hardware and software technologies to ensure strategic alignment.
• Information Delivery: Collect, store, and distribute data effectively to support production and business needs.
• Data Analysis: Apply and advise on analytical techniques to deliver actionable insights.
• System Administration: Optimize procedures and enforce strict change management to maintain system stability.
• Training: Train end-users, junior engineers, and interns to ensure strong coverage and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Minimum: National Diploma in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field (NQF Level 5).

Experience

• 2–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or IT roles.

Proven expertise in:

• Project management
• Software design and implementation
• Database design and auditing
• System integration and architecture
• Operating systems and automation concepts

Knowledge Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge in IT systems engineering (hardware, operating systems, programming, databases, and networks).
• Basic understanding of steel processing, metallurgy, production operations, and mathematical models.
