POSITION INFO:
Key responsibilities will be: The Energy Management Engineer will be responsible for identifying, implementing and maintaining energy efficiency initiatives at an industrial steel manufacturing facility in Vander Bijl Park. Offices are based in Pretoria, but the team needs to be on site most days. Assist in the design, development and implementation of energy project solutions for the client. Interpret energy consumption analysis reports , identify optimization that need to be monitored, report on results. Propose interventions based on results. Carrying out site visits\/audits on regular intervals. The operation, maintenance and fault finding of existing project infrastructure to ensure system functionality and project performance. Engage with different plant managers and specialists to build rapport and reduce energy consumption across multiple utilities (electricity, gas, water, etc.) Understand the processes so that energy consumption can be reduced without affecting the operations negatively. Quality assurance plan development and implementation. Operational and maintenance procedure development based on the unique features of each project. Management of the installation and commissioning of new equipment on site. Project management services for the execution of approved projects and monitoring of the performance thereof post implementation. Project management will include the management of site activities and overseeing subcontractors where necessary. Ensure that health and safety procedures and standards are implemented and maintained. Supervision of site dedicated personnel. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate competence in the following engineering activities: Planning and design. Development\/design\/specify material and equipment\/piping. Compilation of cost estimations, proposals, tendering documentation and vendor selection. Site inspections and supervision. Contractor management. Commissioning and operation of equipment. Project management and administration. It will be expected from the successful candidate to: Promote the Company's values and demonstrate high standards of ethical behaviour. Actively participate in client engagement. Communicate with clients, manage expectations and build strong client relationships and rapport. Have a high level of computer literacy. Willingness to travel between site and offices. Reporting to the appointed Business Unit Manager and Project Manager as well as the Client's Representative. Minimum requirements are: Chemical\/Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree or higher (non-negotiable). Primary business written and spoken language will be English. Proficiency in Afrikaans required to effectively communicate in bilingual meetings. Valid driver's license, own transport. Medically fit and willing to work on project site. 3-6 years' experience in an energy efficiency engineering environment. Experience in a project management capacity highly recommended. Experience in energy management analysis and optimization essential. Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation equipment application to monitor site parameters. People and business management expertise. Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Sound computer literacy and strong reporting skills.
