About the role:

A premier tissue manufacturing and logistics leader is seeking a qualified, highly experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Middelburg. This role is ideal for a skilled mechanical professional who has extensive experience operating and maintaining heavy articulated vehicles and interlink truck combinations.

You will be responsible for ensuring the fleet remains fully operational, roadworthy, and efficient, while safely transporting cargo to designated national destinations.

Key Responsibilities

Transport cargo safely and efficiently to designated destinations.
Conduct rigorous daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
Ensure all transport documentation and logs are accurately completed and maintained.
Maintain the cleanliness and roadworthiness of vehicles and trailers; report defects, breakdowns, and incidents promptly.
Ensure all loads are transported securely and delivered strictly on schedule.
Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and the public.

Minimum Requirements

Valid Code 14 Driver’s License and a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating articulated trucks and interlink combinations.
Clean driving record with no criminal record.
Medically fit to handle long-distance driving demands.
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Strong communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in vehicle inspections and basic fault reporting.
