POSITION INFO:
Our client, a public tertiary education institution, is looking to appoint a Data Analyst. This role forms part of the Integrated Data Analytics (IDA) team, which transforms organisational data into meaningful insights that strengthen strategic, tactical and operational decisions. The division supports strategy, planning, projects and decision‑making across the organisation. The IDA Data Analyst Hub places analysts inside business environments across the institution, so that each area gets analytics close to its work while analysts remain part of a single professional community within the hub, with shared tools, methods and standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Performing data analysis and reporting within the assigned environment. Applying analytical, statistical and data-modelling techniques to produce robust, well-documented findings. Generating insight that supports decision-making and translate the environment's information needs into data requirements and clear, decision-ready insights. Building and maintaining dashboards and reporting tools for the environment. Meeting IDA's quality and methodology standards and contributing to cross-environment analyses where patterns emerge across the Hub. Taking part in the weekly IDA community of practice and building proficiency across the IDA knowledge base. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Relevant tertiary qualification in a data-related or quantitative field (data science, statistics, information systems, analytics or econometrics, or a related field). Qualification and relevant experience will be considered together: Honours degree or postgraduate diploma (NQF 8) with at least three years' relevant experience Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma (NQF 7) with at least five years' relevant experience Diploma (NQF 6) with at least eight years' relevant experience. Working knowledge of SQL and Power BI, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The ability to translate data into insight for non-technical audiences. The ability to effectively manage time, resources and skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The ability to assess information, consider implications and make timely decisions. The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with colleagues and teams. ADVANTAGEOUS Experience in a higher education or comparably complex institutional environment. Familiarity with institutional source systems and data structures. Exposure to AI-enabled analytics tools and workflows. Proficiency in reading and understanding Afrikaans. General: We are committed to fair and inclusive hiring.
