Title \/ Role: Cost Accountant Department: Finance Reports to: General Manager \/ Business Owner Location: Boksburg — full-time, on-site. Vacancy: Three-month contract with the possibility of permanent employment. Immediate start required. Salary budget: R50,000 per month. Benefits: No pension or medical aid benefits. Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 07:30–16:30; Friday, 07:30–13:30. Company shutdown: 21–31 December. Seniority: Not specified by the client. Overview: The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, supporting management reporting and safeguarding the financial integrity of the organisation. The role covers a broad range of accounting, payroll, compliance and operational finance functions. Responsibilities: 1. Daily Duties Maintain financial records and process transactions. Manage cash and banking activities. Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable. Maintain compliance and financial controls. 2. Monthly Duties Complete statutory returns and ensure compliance. Process payroll. Perform bank reconciliations. Prepare month-end journals and adjustments. Prepare management reports. Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning. Maintain fixed asset records. Manage inventory accounting. 3. Quarterly Duties Prepare quarterly financial reports and management packs for senior management review. Conduct detailed general ledger reviews to identify mispostings, unusual balances and errors requiring correction. Review statutory compliance obligations to ensure there are no outstanding submissions or payments. Submit interim EMP501 reconciliations, if required by SARS, and review PAYE and UIF accounts. 4. Annual Duties Complete year-end close and audit preparation. Complete annual statutory submissions. Prepare the annual budget. 5. Additional Responsibilities Maintain compliance, controls and governance. Perform financial analysis and reporting. Manage import processing and foreign suppliers. Manage debtors and credit control. Resolve queries and liaise with stakeholders. Perform product costing. Handle SARS matters, registrations and statutory compliance. Administer the Sage system and provide staff training. Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in management or a related field is recommended. Three to five years of experience in the pump industry, including sales and branch management. A minimum of two years of experience managing teams. Skills & Competencies Accountability. Effective written and verbal communication. Conflict resolution. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to stand, walk and move around the site for extended periods. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to drive regularly for business. Ability to work outdoors in hot, sunny and cold conditions. Ability to work in dusty, noisy or industrial environments. Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety boots, vests and hearing protection.
