Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Consulting Team Lead supports the Consulting Manager in the day-to-day management, guidance and development of an allocated team of consultants. The role focuses on coaching consultants, coordinating project delivery, monitoring work quality, supporting client relationships and ensuring that consulting processes and operational requirements are followed.

The role plays an important part in developing junior consultants into confident, capable and increasingly independent consultants while improving the quality, consistency and efficiency of project delivery.

The successful candidate will combine strong Sage product knowledge and consulting experience with practical leadership, project coordination, commercial awareness and a commitment to client satisfaction. The role operates under the direction of the Consulting Manager, with significant commercial, employee performance, client or project matters escalated where appropriate.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to an allocated team of consultants.
  • Mentor and coach consultants to develop their Sage product knowledge, consulting capabilities, project management and client-engagement skills.
  • Identify development needs, conduct regular one-on-one sessions and support individual development plans.
  • Assist consultants with workload management, prioritisation, time management and scheduling.
  • Monitor project progress, deliverables, timelines and resource requirements, identifying risks and delays and escalating significant concerns.
  • Guide consultants in understanding client requirements, defining project scope and following agreed implementation methodologies and project management processes.
  • Support consultants with Sage implementations, configuration, troubleshooting and complex project matters within the Team Lead's area of expertise.
  • Support client relationship management by assisting with client communication, expectation management and issue resolution where required.
  • Participate in client meetings where additional guidance or support is needed and help consultants build confidence in managing client relationships independently.
  • Identify opportunities for additional consulting services, training, upgrades or other relevant Sage solutions and communicate these through the appropriate commercial processes.
  • Review consulting deliverables, reports, project documentation and testing to promote quality, accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct monthly quality reviews of consulting reports submitted by allocated consultants and address recurring issues through coaching, training or process improvements.
  • Monitor Harvest updates, consulting reports, consultant schedules and availability, ensuring that required weekly and month-end processes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Review and submit OCE/potential sheets where applicable and follow up on outstanding administrative requirements.
  • Monitor consultant utilisation and billable time, identify potential revenue leakage or inefficient resource allocation, and escalate commercial concerns to the Consulting Manager.
  • Support the achievement of consulting revenue, utilisation and profitability objectives while ensuring that the Consulting Manager retains overall commercial accountability.
  • Facilitate internal training, knowledge-sharing sessions and the sharing of project lessons learned to strengthen team capability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve consulting processes, project delivery, documentation and the consistent application of agreed methodologies, tools and templates.
  • Escalate significant or recurring consultant performance concerns, client issues, project risks, quality concerns and commercial matters to the Consulting Manager.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Sage products, implementation practices and consulting methodologies, and continuously develop leadership and project management capabilities.
