MedE Recruit is seeking a hands-on Compounding Pharmacist for a private medical practice in Houghton, Johannesburg . This opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with strong compounding, dispensing and stock-management experience who can take ownership of the dispensary while supporting the wider operational needs of the practice. The role offers exciting longer-term potential as the practice expands into personalised and integrative medicine, including the development of compounded formulations within the relevant regulatory framework. Requirements BPharm or an equivalent recognised pharmacy qualification. Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a Pharmacist. At least 2 years of relevant pharmacist experience . Demonstrable hands-on compounding experience. Good knowledge of pharmacy practice, medicine controls and applicable regulatory requirements. Strong medication and consumable stock-management experience, including ordering, supplier coordination, receiving, stock takes and reconciliations. Strong administrative and computer skills. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organisation and accountability. Excellent patient-care, communication and interpersonal skills. An interest in integrative medicine, personalised medicine, health and wellness. Comfortable working in a busy private medical-practice environment. Must reside in Houghton, Johannesburg, or within close proximity. Key Responsibilities Compound and prepare medicines and formulations within professional scope and applicable regulatory requirements. Dispense medication and provide appropriate pharmaceutical care and guidance. Take ownership of the day-to-day dispensary operations. Manage medication and consumable stock, including ordering, receiving, stock levels, expiry dates, batch tracking, stock takes and reconciliations. Coordinate with suppliers and ensure deliveries and supplier invoices are accurately reconciled. Support accurate invoicing and financial controls relating to medication and dispensary activities. Maintain appropriate dispensary SOPs, procedures and controls. Work closely with the doctors and clinical team to support patient care. Assist the wider practice and front-office team with operational requirements where needed. Identify opportunities to improve dispensary workflows and overall practice efficiency. Contribute over time to the development of compounded formulations and personalised treatment offerings within the appropriate regulatory framework. Position Details Location: Houghton, Johannesburg Salary: R25,000–R38,000 gross per month, depending on experience Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30, and every alternate Saturday, 09:00–13:00 Preferred Start Date: December 2026 to January 2027, or sooner if a suitable candidate is available The ideal candidate is both a strong pharmacist and a capable operational owner.
