CNC Programmer

SUMMARY:
BAM is seeking technically competent CNC Programmer with strong experience in automotive metal stamping and tooling. The successful candidate must be able to interpret tooling designs, develop accurate CNC programs and provide practical technical support.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: Generate CNC programs in accordance with tooling designs, including jigs and fixtures. Program CNC milling machines and other CNC machinery. Program CNC machines and wire-cut machines according to design specifications. Create and maintain accurate 2D and 3D drawings and drawing standards. Create and annotate general assemblies, assemblies and components. Provide programming support for tool repairs and modifications. Assist with modifications to tooling designs where required. Support the Toolroom and Production teams with technical programming requirements. Coach and mentor Toolroom apprentices and trainees. Provide guidance on CNC programming and machine operation. Perform daily maintenance checks on CNC machines and wire-cut machines in accordance with prescribed checklists. Assist with operating CNC machines and wire-cut machines when required, including in the absence of the CNC Operator. Ensure required materials and cutting tools are identified and ordered timeously. Ensure tooling and programming activities are completed according to agreed timing plans. Assist with tool maintenance and repairs when required. Administration & Reporting Complete job cards accurately following completion of each job. Maintain accurate and professional documentation. Provide accurate and timely reports relating to assigned responsibilities. Minimum Requirements: Essential: Proficient in 2D and 3D parametric CAD software. Proficient in 3D machining\/CAM software and CNC programming. Minimum 5 years'' experience in an automotive metal stamping environment. CATIA experience. Advantageous: Trade-tested Tool, Jig and Die Maker. Experience in a Toolroom environment within the automotive manufacturing industry. Experience with CNC milling and wire-cut machines. Experience with tooling, jigs, fixtures and press tools. Experience in mentoring apprentices or trainees.
