Lead the Process Engineering Department, ensuring accurate and innovative process design, simulation, and integration across all company product lines.
Manage the development, validation, and continuous improvement of metallurgical and mechanical process models.
Oversee technical deliverables from concept design through commissioning, ensuring process compliance and performance guarantees are met.
Support the Business Development and Projects teams in client engagements, technical sales, and tender support.
Lead cross-functional technical investigations, including root cause analyses and performance audits, ensuring client satisfaction and operational excellence.
Guide and mentor department and related personnel, building a high-performing team.
Maintain and improve engineering governance, process design standards, and regulatory compliance in line with SHERQ and ECSA frameworks.
Promote innovation through R&D collaboration and implementation of new process technologies, simulation tools, and test protocols.
Represent the company as a technical expert in industry conferences, client negotiations, and regulatory reviews.
Undertake additional technical or leadership assignments as delegated by the Executive Team or Technical Director.
Full responsibility for the implementation, maintenance and further development of the Business Development (Capital), Business Process in terms of TÜV SÜD, ISO 9001.

Direct Subordinates: Business Development Office Manager, Snr Business Development (Capital) Engineer, Business Development Administrator, Business Development Product specialists, Test Rig Operator, Metallurgical Intern
Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering and/or Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (i.e. ‘other’ engineering, sales, technical assistance, or a similar field).
Other:
Five or more years’ experience in sales and marketing experience.
Master of Business Administration qualification or related field is an added advantage.
Proven Engineering and/or Sales experience in an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM engineering and fabrication environment.
Minimum 3 years in a leadership/management role.
Proven experience in hydrometallurgy, comminution, beneficiation, flotation, thickening, filtration, and/or tailings handling.
Site commissioning and plant performance testing background is essential.
Process Design: Advanced experience in process flow design, mass and energy balance modelling, PFD and P&ID development.
Simulation & Tools: Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., METSIM, HSC Chemistry, ASPEN Plus, or equivalent).
Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with MPT product suite—leach tanks, screens, feeders, mills, etc.
Project Execution: Able to lead multidisciplinary technical teams through design, manufacturing, and commissioning stages.
Leadership & Strategy: Strategic thinker with a hands-on leadership style and high emotional intelligence.
Innovation: Track record of developing or applying new process technologies, testing protocols, or product improvements.
Compliance: Strong understanding of SHERQ, ISO standards, and Engineering Profession Act (EPA) requirements.
Communication: Excellent technical reporting, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.
Mentorship: Able to coach and uplift junior technical personnel while driving a culture of accountability.
Software Proficiency: MS Office Suite, AutoCAD/Inventor (for collaboration), simulation packages, report-writing tools, as well as MS Project, MS Teams and related software.
Travel Readiness: Willing to travel locally and internationally to client sites for commissioning and technical support.
Standards: Understanding of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
Process Design Authority: Lead the development of process flow diagrams, heat/mass balances, and P&IDs. Approve process designs before handover to engineering and manufacturing teams.
Sales and Marketing: Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to promote the company's products and services. Develop pricing strategies and proposals for potential clients. Attend trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote the company and its products.
New Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase revenue and market share. Develop and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and other business partners. Develop and present proposals to potential clients.
Client Management: Identify and manage key client accounts to ensure client satisfaction and retention. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure ongoing business opportunities. Respond to client inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Project Management: Manage new and ongoing projects to ensure timely delivery of products and services. Work with project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction. Provide regular project updates to senior management and other stakeholders.
Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for business development activities. Monitor expenses and revenue to ensure profitability and growth. Provide financial analysis and forecasting for new business opportunities.
Marketing and Branding: Develop and execute marketing strategies to raise awareness of the company and its products and services. Develop and maintain the company's brand and reputation. Develop and execute advertising and promotional campaigns. Conduct webinars and presentations to raise the brand or product profile.
Budget Control, Business Development Staff Management & Reporting: Plan, compile, and manage the business development budget, measuring financial efficiency and profitability of the company business development. Assign resources, task and task time planning (hours spent versus hours budgeted on tasks). Cost design/draughting requests and managing them to agreed budgets. Task planning, completion and deviation reports. Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them. Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of staff. Communicate and implement KPA’s & KPIs from the strategic annual plan/business plan so that each employee is aware.

In conjunction with the rest of top management, manage and lead the business with specific emphasis on operational and strategic plans, financial resources, human resources, quality, innovation, continuous improvement, and providing leadership across the organization.
