POSITION INFO:
Purpose of the Position : Own the commercial performance and development of the Cape Town branch, with direct accountability for revenue growth, market share, profitability, customer retention, and expansion across rental, sales, and service. Lead the branch's commercial team and direct commercial reports, build a strong pipeline, secure new business, deepen key customer relationships, and translate the clients strategic objectives into sustainable growth in the Western Cape market. The Branch Manager is the senior commercial leader for the branch and requires strong commercial acumen with a proven record of penetrating and developing new markets. While retaining overall accountability for branch performance, the role oversees operational delivery through an Operations Manager, who is responsible for day-to-day operational execution, service delivery, fleet coordination, safety, and compliance. Qualifications: Required: Grade 12\/N3 Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business management, Commerce, Finance, Sales\/Marketing, or a related field Preferred: Postgraduate business qualification (e.g. MBA or PGDip in Business Administration) Experience: Required: 5 years' commercial management experience with direct accountability for revenue and profit targets in a sales, rental, or service environment Required: 5 years in a branch, business unit, or profit-center leadership role managing multi-disciplinary teams . Required: Proven track record of achieving financial and sales targets and growing market share . Required: Demonstrated success in building and retaining key customer and stakeholder relationships at senior level . Preferred: Equipment, hire, MEWP, material handling, or industrial services industry experience . Key Responsibilities: Own the branch profit and loss: drive revenue and profitability across rental, sales, and service; manage budgets, forecasts, pricing discipline, and cost control; implement corrective actions where performance deviates from target. Grow the branch's commercial footprint: develop and execute the branch sales plan and lead the branch team in building and converting a qualified pipeline, winning new accounts, and expanding share of wallet through cross-selling and upselling across the full product and service offering. Act as the senior commercial relationship holder for the branch: build and maintain strategic customer relationships, lead negotiations and tender responses, resolve escalated client issues, and protect customer retention. Lead, mentor, and manage branch staff across sales, operations, service, and administration: conduct performance reviews, drive succession planning and skills development, and sustain a positive, high-performance culture. Direct operational execution: optimise fleet utilisation and availability, ensure service delivery to SLA, and coordinate with workshop, inventory, and logistics functions to meet customer commitments. Manage the branch working capital position: support credit control on collections, ensure quote-to-invoice accuracy, and resolve billing disputes promptly. Ensure branch compliance with company policies, legislation, and SHEQ standards: promote a safe working environment, enforce safety protocols, and maintain audit readiness. Ensure timely and accurate reporting on sales, financial, and operational performance; safeguard and optimise company assets, including the rental fleet, vehicles, tools, and IT resources.
