SUMMARY:
A well-established mining organisation is looking for a qualified and experienced Boilermaker to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of structural and mechanical components and equipment in a mining environment.

POSITION INFO:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform fabrication, welding and boilermaking activities on mining equipment and structures. Conduct repairs and maintenance on plant equipment, chutes, hoppers, conveyors, pipelines and structural components. Read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams and fabrication specifications. Measure, mark, cut, bend and shape steel and other materials according to specifications. Carry out MIG, TIG, arc and\/or CO₂ welding as required. Perform maintenance and repairs on structural steelwork and mechanical components. Assist with the installation, modification and alignment of plant and equipment. Inspect equipment and structures to identify defects, damage and potential failures. Perform planned and preventative maintenance activities. Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical and structural faults. Ensure all fabricated components meet required quality and dimensional specifications. Operate fabrication equipment and hand\/power tools safely and correctly. Complete maintenance and inspection records accurately. Work closely with Artisans, Fitters, Millwrights and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure plant availability. Adhere to all mining safety standards, procedures and regulations. Participate in safety meetings, risk assessments and toolbox talks. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Perform standby, overtime and call-out duties when required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 12 \/ Matric. Recognised Boilermaker Trade Test. Relevant experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment. Experience with structural fabrication, welding and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques. Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements within a mining environment. Good understanding of maintenance practices and procedures. Valid driver's licence will be advantageous. Mining-related certificates or experience will be advantageous. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Good welding and fabrication skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Problem-solving and fault-finding ability. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a production-driven environment. Strong commitment to safety and quality.
