SUMMARY:
A well-established supermarket in Pretoria East is seeking an experienced, bubbly BARISTA to run its takeaway coffee and refreshments counter.

POSITION INFO:
The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Afrikaans, outgoing and genuinely enjoys people, with proven barista experience and the maturity to take ownership of the counter's daily operation. This is a customer-facing role where personality matters as much as technical skill, and regulars will come to know your name. Core Criteria: Minimum 2 years' practical barista experience Proven experience operating a commercial espresso machine Able to calibrate and adjust a coffee grinder independently Bilingual in English and Afrikaans Bubbly, confident and outgoing personality with a warm, welcoming manner Able to carry responsibility and work independently Basic stock control and ordering knowledge Reliable, punctual and well organised Willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays Shortlisted candidates will complete a practical assessment Core Responsibilities: Prepare quality coffees, including cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites, americanos and espressos Dial in and calibrate the grinder daily and keep extraction consistent Steam and texture milk to a high standard, with basic latte art Troubleshoot common machine and grinder issues and report faults promptly Prepare and serve slush, soft serve ice cream and gelato Help introduce new offerings such as milkshakes, frappés and iced coffees Run the daily operation of the counter, including opening and closing duties Conduct stocktakes every Monday and order stock as needed Manage stock rotation, expiry dates and wastage Maintain high hygiene, cleanliness and presentation standards Recommend products, promote specials and build rapport with regular customers Assist with guiding other staff when required On Offer: R35 per hour Approximately 195 hours per month, based on a pre-determined schedule Immediate start Opportunity to grow with the counter and contribute to new product development
