Job Advert Summary

Service, maintain and repair the auto-electrical systems, components and circuits of equipment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

• Repair and service auto-electrical equipment and circuits on site and in the workshop.
• Install and wire auto-electrical control systems.
• Assess equipment and recommend upgrades or improvements.
• Repair various types of OEM cranes.
• Keep up to date with new technologies and OEM upgrades.
• Comply with all SHERQ policies, practices and procedures.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Diagnose electrical and electronic faults using schematics, diagnostic equipment and appropriate test instruments.
• Inspect, test and repair batteries, alternators, starter motors, wiring harnesses, lighting systems, sensors and control modules.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance and electrical safety inspections in accordance with maintenance schedules.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical manuals and OEM specifications.
• Carry out functional tests after repairs and confirm that equipment is safe and ready for service.
• Record inspections, faults, repairs, parts used and maintenance completed accurately.
• Identify required spare parts and materials and report stock requirements to the relevant supervisor.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot faults and minimise operational downtime.
• Maintain tools, diagnostic equipment and the work area in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.

• Matric or Grade 12 certificate.
• N3 qualification and qualified Auto Electrician status are essential.
• Mechanical and hydraulic experience is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• 5 to 8 years of auto-electrical experience
