Assistant Technical Manager

SUMMARY:
A well-established luxury private game reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a capable, hands-on ASSISTANT TECHNICAL MANAGER to support the upkeep of its lodges, staff villages and reserve infrastructure.

POSITION INFO:
The ideal candidate is a practical, technically minded all-rounder with solid maintenance experience, who works well alongside a senior manager and is equally comfortable on site and managing day-to-day administration. Core Criteria: A minimum of 5 years in a technical or maintenance role, ideally in a lodge or similar-sized operation Qualified or experienced in at least one technical trade Working knowledge of plumbing, water and sewage treatment, building and general maintenance Valid, unendorsed South African driver's licence Sound administrative skills with strong attention to detail Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure Clear written and verbal communication; a patient team player comfortable with diverse cultures and languages Self-driven, organised and reliable in a remote bush environment Core Responsibilities: Support the Technical Manager with preventative and breakdown maintenance across the lodges, staff villages and reserve Supervise and guide the maintenance team on a daily basis Liaise with lodge and camp managers on maintenance requirements and project progress Assist with ordering, issuing and stock control of supplies, tools and equipment Help oversee building and renovation projects, including contractors on site Assist with the upkeep of water purification and grey water treatment systems Support sustainability initiatives, including solar and water-saving projects Step in for the Technical Manager when required
