Our client in the Food Seasonings and Food Flavour Manufacturing Industry is looking for an Assistant Production Manager to join their team based in Sunderland Ridge, Centurion. This role will support the Production Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations for food seasonings, spice blends, and flavour products supplied to business-to-business clients. The role ensures production efficiency, product quality, food safety compliance, and timely order fulfillment while maintaining cost control and operational standards. This role is responsible for the coordination of production staff, monitors manufacturing processes, and helps implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and quality.
 
Required Qualifications & Working Knowledge:

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or related field
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing or food processing
• Experience in seasoning, spice blending, or flavour manufacturing
• Prior experience in production planning and scheduling
• Proficiency in Pastel
• Food Safety Compliance (FSSC 22000/ GMP)
• Proven skills in staff supervision and team leadership
• Proficiency in quality control systems and batch management

POSITION INFO:
Duties & Responsibilities: Production Operations: Ensure production schedules are followed to meet customer order deadlines Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising daily production activities Monitor production output and adjust workflows to improve efficiency Support the coordination of raw materials, packaging materials, and production resources Assist in managing production lines for seasoning blends, flavour compounds, and related products Quality & Food Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as FSSC 22000, GMP, and Food Manufacturing Regulations Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product specifications and standards Assist with internal audits and ensure corrective actions are being implemented Ensure proper documentation of batch records and production logs Inventory & Raw Material Management: Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure raw materials are available for production Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate production records and reports Monitor key production metrics such as output, efficiency, downtime and waste Provide production updates to the Production Manager and senior management Draw monthly production reports
