Job Description

Role Overview:
A well-established group in the commercial egg and perishable goods industry is seeking a driven, proactive Area Sales Manager. This is an interim-level role reporting directly to the Sales and Marketing Manager, focusing heavily on hunting and securing new business.

Key Responsibilities

Identify sales leads, hunt for new business, and drive sales growth.
Gather market information on pricing and industry trends.
Build strong customer relationships and resolve queries or complaints quickly.
Manage stock rotation, forward share, and expiry dates for short-shelf-life products.
Manage store-level merchandisers, optimize product delivery times, and manage credits/returns.
Provide regular formal and informal market feedback reports.

Requirements

3–5 years of general sales experience within the FMCG perishable goods sector (experience with short-shelf-life products like dairy or eggs is highly preferred).
Proven track record in business development (hunting, not just account managing).
Matric certificate.
Fluent in English and local South African languages.
Valid driver’s license.
Proactive, detail-oriented, computer literate, and able to work independently under deadline pressure.
Willing to work weekends and public holidays when required.
