Application Engineer - Fire & Gas Detection

POSITION INFO:
A leading provider of fire detection, gas detection, and suppression solutions is seeking an Applications Engineer to join its Johannesburg team. This role bridges the gap between sales and project delivery, requiring the successful candidate to develop compliant, cost-effective, and technically sound solutions for mining, minerals processing, petrochemical, power generation, and critical facility projects. You will be responsible for proposal development, system design, estimating, engineering support, commissioning assistance, and technical guidance while working with globally recognised fire and gas detection platforms. Education: National Diploma, BTech, or BEng in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or Mechatronic Engineering. SAQCC Fire Registration at Designer level in both Fire Detection and Gas Suppression. Job Experience & Skills Required: Minimum 4 years' experience designing and estimating fire detection and gaseous suppression systems. Strong knowledge of SANS 10139, SANS 14520 / ISO 14520, SANS 306-4, and relevant fire protection standards. Experience performing hydraulic calculations using approved suppression design software. Proficiency in AutoCAD and technical design documentation. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tender documents, and scopes of work. Experience with fire detection, alarm, and suppression system design and commissioning support. Exposure to hazardous area requirements and Ex equipment selection advantageous. Experience in mining, petrochemical, power generation, data centre, or industrial projects preferred. Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites. Apply now!
