Our client, a respected player within the engineering sector, is seeking an experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys managing the full bookkeeping function while supporting the broader financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing reconciliations, supporting month-end processes, and ensuring statutory compliance. If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership and add value, this could be the perfect opportunity. Key Responsibilities: Manage the full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance. Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals, and accruals. Perform bank, supplier, and general ledger reconciliations. Assist with month-end reporting and financial administration. Prepare and submit VAT returns. Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules. Support budgeting, cash flow management, and audit requirements. Ensure compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements Job Experience and Skills Required: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 3-5 years' accounting or bookkeeping experience. Proven experience managing the full bookkeeping function up to Trial Balance. Strong knowledge of VAT, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience on Syspro or a similar ERP system. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience within the engineering, manufacturing, or construction industry will be advantageous. Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
